question: how is the best way to make a blog in newgrounds?

Posted by Inkwellman - 6 hours ago

So, i am thinking in making a personal blog, but how i could do it in this page? my real question is where should i make it?

this is because is possible to make a forum to talk about my topics that will be talked about in the blog, but i could also just make a blog post like im doing right now in my profile.

for you guys, what is the best way to see the blog and see it in general? if you need to suggest anything, feel free to leave a comment suggesting anything in particular for the personal blog.

most blogs on newgrounds are mainly about life updates, events, upcoming projects, commissions

you can just post it here too

thanks for the feedback! eben though my blog is about my personal things, there is going to be project advencements =)

I dunno just full send it lol

I don't think there is an absolute best way to make a blog here, same applies elsewhere too, because everyone has their own style of writing, addition of the graphical elements, insertion of images or not, layout, etc.

But there are some common elements that make a blog worthy reading or even engaging: knowing its intended audience, a compelling headline title (usually the title blog formula should have these elements: Keyword + Purpose + Value + Action/Adjective), strong lead to maintain attention, tags (preferably personalized tags so people can scroll through your blogs just by clicking said tags), visual aid (images, photos, draws, even infographic if necessary, this blog is a great example of infographic to show his days in terms of happiness: https://s3c.newgrounds.com/news/post/1510450), links to your previous blogs in terms of same theme (it's an easy-to-read sitemap of your blogs and makes things easier to navigate) and so on.

Another important element is the user experience; how users feel during and after engaging with your blog is key. Positive thoughts and emotions will keep them coming back for more. Any time you can grab someone’s attention with an introduction, the better. Including wit, humor or an interesting fact is effective. You can also just dive straight into your topic so as not to waste the reader’s time (I tend to do this when I want to promote a cause I think it's worth of being promoted in order to spread awareness whether it's something serious or a more calm event such as a collab).

These are two examples of what I meant when I said diving straight into the topic:

(one is more serious, the second way lighter)

Relevance and relatability are other two key factors in making a blog interesting to read. The content should always relate to your world and it must offer relevant information to readers, or they won’t read it. A digestible word counts helps too (not too short unless you aim at a shitpost or a funny/memeish post, but not too long or many people will lose interest and this is why you shall not use my blogs as example because I tend to write very long blogs but that's how I am, I like to cover as much as possible and be precise especially with informative blogs).

Titles should be concise and compelling (usually no more than 60 characters, plus here long titles get cut down), flex your creativity. Meta descriptions should be succinct because they give the reader a good sense of what they are about to read. A strong intro helps a lot because it will grab the reader's attention and pull them in. Use subheadings because they help the reader identify where key information live in your blog, allowing him/her/them to quickly scan the piece and find info they want after being engaged by previous points (titles, tags, meta descriptions, intro).

Other than these tips I don't have other things to suggest other than have fun when making the blog and choose the type of topic or even different themes in different blog posts with the right tags (personalized, unique but also broad so they touch wide topics) that help navigate better your blogs since Newgrounds doesn't have a in-account tag system like Tumblr where you can navigate blogs through the tags within the Tumblr account you are reading.

Sorry for long comment though, it's a trait of mine^^'
Have a nice day!
